Update (5.28.21) We had to make the difficult decision today to close registrations for the 1st Annual Valley Bottom Rio Trio. We have reached a number of participants that we did not anticipate in our first year! In an effort to ensure that logistics run smoothly and to ensure safety on the racecourse, we are capping the event at our current numbers.
Our apologies to those who planned to compete but who had not yet registered.
We are extremely grateful for the level of enthusiasm and support that our community has shown for this event and we hope to sustainably grow the race in future years.
At the time of this post, there are still some spots remaining in the Kid's Mini Race.
Rio Trio Planning Team
Alamosa Parks and Recreation and Adams State Adventure Programs are partnering to bring the San Luis Valley the first annual “Valley Bottom Rio Trio”; an adventure-style triathlon race within the City of Alamosa! This fully chip-timed race will feature an 8-mile trail bike ride, a 3-mile paddle on the Rio Grande, and a 5k run. Participants will be given the option of doing all three legs of the race solo, or as a part of a 3-person relay team. Bring your own boat or rent a kayak (SOLD OUT) or Standup Paddle Board from us! The inaugural race will take place on the morning of Saturday, June 12th! An outdoor awards ceremony, lunch made from local ingredients, and local beer libations will take place following the race. A free children's adventure triathlon (ages 6-11) will take place before the main event!
